Juan Olivier is a rookie prison guard on his first tour at work, when suddenly a riot breaks out and the convicts take over. Left inside by his co-workers, Juan quickly learns that if he is to survive, he must pretend to be one of the prisoners. The situation ramps up when Basque separatists are taken hostage, leaving Juan to negotiate with the violent leader of the riots, Malamadre.
